Steve Edwards completed the dash in 17 minutes, beating his 20-minute personal best and proudly finished in the top 100 out of 1500 Santas! Steve Edwards (left), Deputy Office Manager at The Student Support CentreSteve Edwards (left), Deputy Office Manager at The Student Support Centre

He said: “The doctor told me not to take part in the run due to a tear in my ankle muscle but I did it anyway and today I can hardly walk! It was all worth a bit of pain for a good cause.”

So far Steve has raised over £350 for two fantastic charities, the Countess of Chester Hospital and the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

The event proved so popular that it is hoped that, with the approval of Cheshire West and Chester Council, the Chester Santa Dash will become an annual event.

About The Student Support Centre:

The Student Support Centre opened its doors in 1991 and has since become the largest provider of home-based tuition programmes with 8 regional offices across the UK.

Our ‘simply’ programmes provide home-based tuition and support for children aged between 4 and 17 and may be a more cost effective alternative to private tutors for maths tuition, English tuition and reading tuition. They have been designed to mirror the way in which children are taught in schools based on the National Curriculum requirements and use the teaching methods currently recommended for use in schools.
