The Student Support Centre's (Cheshire) 4km Santa Dash to Help Raise Funds for Charity

The Student Support Centre (Cheshire) makes a dash to raise funds for two very worthy local causes!

Steve Edwards, aged 26, a Deputy Office Manager at The Student Support Centre on Fir Tree Close, Stretton, is preparing to take part in Chester’s biggest ever 4km Santa Dash on the morning of Sunday 11th December 2011.

Steve has spent the last two months training in his spare time in the hope that he will reach his goal of raising over £250 for two worthy charities that help and support local families: Hospice of the Good Shepherd; and the Countess of Chester Hospital. All proceeds will be split evenly between the two charities. Chester's Biggest Ever 4km Santa DashChester's Biggest Ever 4km Santa Dash

As well as supporting the local hospital, the money raised will go towards helping the ‘REFLECT’ Children’s Bereavement Service that the Hospice of the Good Shepherd provides free of charge to children (from 3 to 19 years old) from Chester, rural Cheshire and Ellesmere Port.

‘REFLECT’ offers the opportunity for children and young people (who have experienced the loss of someone close) to meet other children of their own age who have had similar experiences.

Steve, from Stockton Heath, said: ‘Six months ago I started training for the 2012 Manchester 10km run and then I heard about Chester’s first ever 4km Santa Dash’.
‘I thought Santa’s Dash would be a great thing to do, especially as it meant that I could raise money for two great local charities’.

Steve is aiming to complete the 4km dash in 20 minutes whilst dressed in his personalised Santa suit!

The Student Support Centre would like to wish Steve all the very best in his next fundraising challenge!

About The Student Support Centre:

The Student Support Centre opened its doors in 1991 and has since become the largest provider of home-based tuition programmes with 8 regional offices across the UK.

Our ‘simply’ programmes provide home-based tuition and support for children aged between 4 and 17 and may be a more cost effective alternative to private tutors for maths tuition, English tuition and reading tuition. They have been designed to mirror the way in which children are taught in schools based on the National Curriculum requirements and use the teaching methods currently recommended for use in schools.
